The one thing I liked about Japanator is the amount of contributors.  In my mind, that is one thing that really brings a lot of depth to a side, the contributors.  And Japanator has a bunch, which each bring their own unique flavor to the site.  Another thing I like is the wide range of topics, including the weird category!  I’m a big fan of weird; sometimes I find myself cruising through Youtube looking through all the weird alien videos, lizard people taking over the earth vids, etc. etc.  I promise, they let me out of that place with all the white walls willingly!  The jumping over the wall in the middle of the night was just a game I was playing with the nurses 

Anyhoo, looking at Japanator makes me think about the importance of having each area of Fandom Dot Net covered by an expert fan of that particular fandom niche.  Are you a fan of poetry?  By all means, contact me and let your voice be heard.  Got a favorite TV show, and want to create your own running narrative about the show?  This is your place.  All that Fandom Dot Net requires is that your a fan taking favorite to a whole new level.  I see a big benefit to this type of website model; instead of having a couple jack of all trades we’ll have a bunch of masters, and think about the readership you can reach.  Maybe that World of Warcraft fan never got into the Southern Vampire Mysteries, but he goes cruising around Fandom Dot Net and comes across your piece of the pie, and falls in love.  The sky is the limits here.

A little back story; I haven’t played WoW since before Burning Crusades came out.  I was never too much into the end-game raid play.  My forte was more in off-the-cuff PVP out in the game world instead of in a Battlegrounds.  Those were absolutely the best times I recall, taking over a Noob town, waiting excitedly while the Alliance started to show up in numbers to defend their “younglings”.

Anyhoo, I was looking at Wrath of the Lich King, and some of the environments look downright impressive.  And it got me thinking – If I was a brand new player just starting out, how would I get along in the world of WoW?  I’m hoping to get someone to comment on this, hopefully someone who has recently started the game.   Wrath of the Lich King definitely looks interesting enough to pick back up and give a whirl, but I’m also not sure if the game has gotten to the point where it is all about the “end game”.

Another thing I’m curious about is what amount of time can a casual player expect to level up to 80 in under the Wrath of the Lich King?   I’ve seen some forums where people stated they casually leveled a new toon to 80 in a month; that just seems a bit impossible to me, if I’m remembering WoW correctly.

Welcome to the Fandom Dot Net Forums.  First, I want to start off and say that these forums are for you, the readers and contributors.  They will become what you make of them.

I will add any Group or Boards under a Group as you guys/gals see a need.  Just hit me up and let me know what you want to post in, and I’ll make it.  Are you the biggest fan in your little chunk of Fandom?  Then let me know and jump on as an administrator/moderator.  The site can become whatever you make of it.  But it won’t be anything but a ghost town with tumble weeds blowing around if we don’t get the word out, and right now we equals me  I will be socially promoting the website and forums, and doing my best to get the word out, but I need your help too.  Like a snowball rolling downhill, this place can be hopping and popping if we make it that way.

Alright, back to surfing the net, the balls in your court!

So, let me back up for a second.  I couldn’t have gotten more lucky with the domain name.  I wanted something with the word “Fandom” in the domain, low and behold I check out some domain name auctions and there is fandom.net, sitting pretty just waiting for my bid.  It’s almost like the Gods blessed this union to happen, but in all reality its probably a good ‘ol case of dumb luck.

Part three, get the forums installed.  Check, roger, finished.  Now, this is a community, and like all communities, it will need members.  And hopefully you bring some feedback to the table.  After all, this is your place to hang out too.  What do you want to see?  New categories, new boards on the forums.  Would you like to manage a portion of the writing?  I’m open to all ideas, especially those that want to manage a portion of the writing.  Are you a fan of Twilight and want to make your voice heard, but don’t want the hassle of getting set up?  Then by all means, let me know, and I’ll set you up on both the blog, and the forums, and you’ll get full creative control to boot.

I fully intend for this website to be for the fans, by the fans.  It’s only going to be as successful as those that stop by, contribute, post, and get to know each other.  I know I’ll be posting in a lot of the areas, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you out there.  My wish is for this website to grow into a powerful voice of the fans, representing all forms of Fandom.  If you want to jump on the bus, I guarantee you’ll grow right along with the site.
